This study is a research project of the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca. The data collected will be used for research purposes only. In this study, we will collect information about your choices (a detailed explanation will be given in the instructions page). Prolific will allow us to link your choices to your gender and age. We will receive no other information about you and will not be able to link this information to your name. Your anonymity is guaranteed.
The study data (but not personal data) may be shared with cooperation partners for collaborative analysis. The study data may also be made publicly accessible via research databases or scientific publications (typically via the Internet). This makes it possible for other researchers to check or replicate the results of the study and enhances the quality of scientific research. The study data may also be used for new research questions going beyond the purposes of this particular study.
Please note that once study data are publicly accessible, its further distribution by others cannot be ruled out, and that this is beyond the area of influence or responsibility of the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca. Therefore, as a matter of principle, study data are only transferred or made publicly accessible without personal data. This study is run according to the laws D. Lgs 196/2003 and UE GDPR 679/2016 on data protection.
The experimental protocol and the management of the study data has been approved by the Joint Ethical Committee of the "Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna", "Scuola Normale Superiore", and "IMT Scuola Alti Studi Lucca" universities (N: n. 36/2023).
Participation in this study is voluntary. You can withdraw from this study at any time, without the need of giving any motivation and without any negative consequences. You can also withdraw your consent to data processing and usage at any time, with effect for the future, and without any negative consequences. To do this, please send a message to us via Prolific, through the link of this study, to guarantee your anonymity.
The study consists of a sequence of questions, which do not involve any topic that might create psychological distress, and whose aim is to investigate to what extent people can coordinate with each others. You will be asked to pick one out of three alternatives with the aim to select the one alternative most chosen by other participants. A detailed description of the task will be given in the next page, together with the instructions, and before the study will begin. Overall, the study will take less than 5 minutes to complete.
You will receive a compensation for your participation, as described in the instructions page, and in accordance with the guidelines of the Prolific platform.
You can quit the study at any time, without providing any motivation (to do so, you can simply close the tab of your browser). However, if you decide to terminate your participation before the end of the study, you will not receive any compensation.
